Get Started

Creating Your First Character

Account Limit

Two accounts per IP are allowed. Attempts to bypass this limit using VPNs or other methods will result in all associated accounts being permanently banned and deleted.

Choose Your Skills and Template

Skills on UO Enigma are flexible — you may change, raise, or lower them as your character develops.

  • Skill Cap: 720
  • Stat Cap: 225

When you create your first character, you will begin your adventure on the Echo Isles.

Echo Isles: The Beginner Area

The Echo Isles is a remote and scenic island, enclosed by mountains and surrounded by ocean waters. It is a protected sanctuary where new players can safely learn the basics before venturing into the wider world.

Young Player Status

While on Echo Isles, you are protected by *Young Player* rules that limit danger and prevent criminal activity.

You will lose Young Player Status if any of the following occur:

  • You leave Echo Isles
  • You say *“I renounce my young player status”* in-game
  • You exceed 40 hours logged in *and* have more than 450 total skill points

Even after losing this status, you may still return to Echo Isles to train in Filth, the beginner dungeon.

The Town

  • Vendors
  • Training areas
  • Basic supplies

The Island

  • Mountains and small forests
  • Roaming wildlife
  • Space to begin building your character

Skill Gain Cap on Echo Isles

Skills may be raised up to 70.0 on Echo Isles. To progress beyond this cap, you must explore other regions of the world.

Filth: The Beginner Dungeon

Echo Isles is also home to Filth, a dungeon designed specifically for new players.

  • No criminal actions are allowed
  • Two dungeon levels
  • Designed to teach combat in a controlled, safe environment

Starting Gear for Mages

Spell Stone

Mages begin with a Spell Stone containing 50 charges.

Important details:

  • The Spell Stone is bound to your character
  • It cannot be traded
  • If dropped, it is permanently destroyed
  • It may only be used while you have Young Player Status
  • Charges are consumed instead of reagents when casting spells

Good luck, and enjoy your adventures on UO Enigma!
