Pet Training System
The Pet Training System in UO Enigma allows players to enhance, level, and customize their pets into powerful long-term companions. Through pet leveling and the use of Ability Runestones, pets can be tailored to complement different playstyles while remaining balanced within the AOS framework.
System Overview
Pets can gain levels and unlock special abilities using Ability Runestones. As a pet levels, it gains stat increases and unlocks additional ability slots.
- Pet Level Cap: 10
- Ability Slots:
- Level 5 – unlocks an additional ability slot
- Level 10 – unlocks a final ability slot
- Pet Slots:
- 1-slot pets may only equip one ability, even at level 10
Each pet’s current level is displayed beneath its name.
Ability Runestones
Ability Runestones are the foundation of pet customization. These items drop as monster loot and can be applied to pets to grant unique abilities.
- There are 21 unique runestones
- Runestones can be leveled up to rank 10
- Each rune grants a distinct effect (damage, casting bonuses, survivability, etc.)
- Runestones may be collected, upgraded, and strategically chosen based on the pet’s role

Pet Leveling
As pets gain experience, they level up and become stronger while remaining balanced.
